Procedure

What is abdominoplasty?

Tummy tuck is the removal of sagging skin and fat from the abdominal area and the repair of loosened abdominal muscles (diastasis correction) underneath. It is both an aesthetic and functional correction.

After pregnancy or weight loss, the area that exercise alone cannot restore is reshaped through surgery.

Often combined with liposuction for holistic body contouring. The belly button is reshaped.

II
Techniques

Method selection.

The most suitable technique for the patient is selected among the main approaches below:

01

Full Abdominoplasty

The entire abdominal wall above and below the belly button is treated. For significant laxity and diastasis.

02

Mini Abdominoplasty

Only the skin excess below the belly button. Shorter recovery, smaller scar.

03

Extended

Comprehensive approach covering flanks and back — applied after significant weight loss.

III
Candidates

Who is a candidate?

Ideal candidates have lost weight, have a stable body form, but cannot restore the abdominal wall.

  • Post-pregnancy abdominal wall laxity and diastasis
  • Sagging skin after significant weight loss
  • Abdominal sagging that does not resolve with exercise
  • Previous incision scars on the abdomen
  • General health suitable for surgery

Note: Not recommended for patients planning future pregnancies — the result can be affected by new pregnancy.

IV
Recovery

Process timeline.

First week

Corset use, mild forward-bent posture is normal. Walking is encouraged.

Weeks 2 – 3

Standing becomes more upright; return to desk work is possible.

Months 1 – 2

Gradual return to heavy exercise and lifting.

Months 3 – 6

Scars fade considerably; final silhouette becomes clear.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common queries.

How much scarring remains? +
The incision is a horizontal line in the lower abdomen — hidden under underwear or swimwear. It fades significantly within a year.
Can I get pregnant again? +
Possible but not recommended; results can loosen with new pregnancy. Postpone surgery until after completing your family plans.
How much weight should I lose? +
Reaching stable weight is important. BMI under 30 is the ideal range.
Is it done with liposuction? +
Often yes — this sculpts both the abdomen and the waist together.
How will my belly button look? +
Reshaped — given a more vertical, natural form.
